Suppliers can send a clean sample and then cut corners on the production run — cheaper motor, smaller battery, weaker frame. For a $20 item you shrug; for a $400 ebike you cannot. Inspection closes that gap.

Types of inspection
Pre-shipment inspection (PSI)
A PSI happens once production is finished and before the container loads. It is the standard check for a bulk ebike order and the one we recommend for anything high-value.
Third-party inspectors: SGS, Qima, or a local agent

What the inspection checklist should cover
Frame, motor, battery, brakes, and certifications
The inspector should confirm the frame is undamaged and matches the spec, the motor wattage is as quoted, the battery capacity and brand are correct, the brakes engage properly, and any claimed CE or UL marks are real and traceable. Photograph and video every item as evidence.
Red flags during inspection
A supplier who suddenly ‘cannot’ allow inspection, who stalls on a video call, or whose production address does not match the verified profile — these are the signs to stop, not to neg
